Reflections from a Speech Contestant

"Let's put our hands together and welcome our first speech contestant. Daryl Neo."

Taking a deep breath, I walked up to the speaking area as the contest chairperson announced my name. I shook her hand as she announced again my name, "Daryl Neo".

"Congratulations!" That was my first word, spoken as the speech evaluation contestant. This very same word sums up my thoughts and feelings about the contest. I certainly had much to congratulate myself for making the right choice, to spend the afternoon at the contest and benefit from the many well thought of and well prepared speeches.

I am happy that I made it.
